The most important thing about Personal Economy is that no one can take it from you:
- No one can steal it
- No one can ban it
- And no one can fire you from it
It is not only yours in the sense that you own it; even better, it is yours because you fully control it.
But to start building it, you first need to change the way you think. Because the old ways of thinking will get you in trouble. Big time.
The first thing you should do is erase the word “efficiency” from your mind and never utter it again. From now on, it is a dirty, forbidden word.
Why?
Because even thinking you can beat the machines and A.I. on “efficiency” is madness.
You need a new way to compete against the machines, and this article will give you exactly that.
New Way You Can Compete
As amazing as A.I. is, it can only copy and imitate what it already learned from its training data.
Instead of the name A.I. (Artificial Intelligence), a much more proper term would be A.R.I. (Artificial Regurgitator of Information).
This means that any process that can be well-defined with plenty of examples will be automated sooner or later.
The only place where you can safely hide without ever worrying about A.I. is in the unique and predominantly human.
This was already explained in the previous two parts.
⚠️ If you landed on this page directly I strongly suggest you go back to the Learning Center and read those two foundational articles first. Otherwise, you’ll miss a lot.
Employee Mindset Setbacks
In the old economy, you always had to ask for permission:
- Can I get a raise?
- Can I get a day off?
- Am I even allowed to be sick?
The new economy is permissionless.
You can find whatever project you want.
It allows you to arrange your time in whatever way you want.
And you can charge higher rates.
Now, the counterargument could be:
“But that all seems risky.”
Well, it’s funny you should say that considering the “safe” employment no longer exists.
It’s not like just YOUR job is disappearing, but ALL jobs are disappearing.
In fact, at the moment, it is hard to imagine anything riskier than traditional employment.
It could quite literally be a random Tuesday, and your company could announce they’re firing 10,000 people.
I bet all those 10,000 people wished they had some of that “risky” independent income.
Something to think about.
Making Offers is Stressful
Well, not really.
It’s just that as an employee, the only time you had to make an offer was when you were in a stressful situation.
For example, being one of those 10,000 fired employees. It feels like the rug was pulled under your feet.
And now you’re looking for a job (making offers) while being under immense pressure and stress.
However, in instances when you decided to quit your job because you already had something better lined up, there was no stress.
You knew you’d be ok.
In fact, you knew you’d be even better than before.
And this same calm, empowering feeling is the default state when you build your own Personal Economy.
You don’t care if 1 of your clients quits because you already work with the other 2, plus you have an additional 3 in the pipeline.
In fact, this doesn’t even hurt your income.
How is that possible?
Well if all your work is project-based, now that you have only 2 clients instead of 3, you can dedicate more time to your remaining clients.
This means you will finish those projects earlier, and you will get paid sooner.
That one client leaving didn’t impact you one single bit.
Now, just imagine and compare the impact of your employer firing you.
That’s why the perfect time to start practicing and sending offers is while you don’t even have to. For example, while you still have your job as an employee.
Then, someone saying “no” to you will not affect you negatively in any way.
But at the same time, you’re getting better at it and gaining valuable experience while others are still clinging to the old system that is crumbling as we speak.
What Should You Offer?
You will offer the same skills you offer to your current employer right now but with one additional advantage.
As a Sovereign Worker, you can utilize your full range of skills instead of being reduced to a small subset (usually defined by a regular job).
One day, you could send an offer to write government grants, and 2 hours later, you’re offering roofing services (if that is something you know how to do).
All you need to do is match your (much wider) skills with the needs of a potential client. If you find such a match, then you got yourself a client.
This makes you much more flexible.
You no longer have to fit your life into your work. Instead, you fit your work into your life.
What is the Overall Goal?
Building your Personal Economy is all about ensuring independence and safety.
And this is achieved by creating a constant flow of projects that come your way.
With that, you can always sleep calmly at night because you know—whatever happens, everything’s going to be ok.
You already have the next thing lined up and ready.
How to Create a Flow of Projects?
By sending hyperindividualized messages to people.
Generic automated messages can no longer work for an average person.
Maybe if you have your own server cluster and a domain farm and a bunch of other things that cost you $50,000 per month—then (maybe) you can compete.
I’m just saying this because I want you to forget that sending a 100 or a 1,000 generic messages will do anything for you.
The only thing you can do is go in a totally opposite direction.
Crafting special messages for only one single person.
That is your only edge.
That is your only protection against A.I. and automation.
Email: The Last Human Medium
You might wonder — why email?
Because email is the last platform that people open intentionally.
When someone checks their inbox, they’re there to read — not to scroll, not to swipe, not to be distracted by a hundred flashing dopamine triggers.
This is why DMs on social media are not a good way to reach people out. Because they’re always in the middle of something else. And your message is an interruption.
However, in a world of infinite noise, email remains quiet.
And in that silence, a personal message can still land with gravity and impact.
But only if it is personal.
Only if it is human.
Only if it feels like it’s speaking to them directly.
Templated emails die on arrival. A mass message gets ignored or flagged as spam.
As it turns out, A.I. is great at recognizing other A.I.
When spammers send 100,000 emails per day, it gives A.I. so much training data that learning to recognize them becomes incredibly easy.
On the other hand, personal messages are always different and always unique.
And that’s how your messages should be as well.
That is your advantage. That is your edge.
Automation Is Not All Bad
You can (and should) use automation.
But only for tasks that A.I. is great for:
- Gather the data
- Summarize the articles
- Compile the scattered social posts from your client
- And overall speed up your research process
For example, if you’re selling fishing equipment, you can use A.I. to scan potential client’s social media posts.
If it finds a post or a picture of a fishing trip (even if it’s 10 years old), you’re onto something.
If it only finds motorcycle riding and bungee jumping, then forget it. This person is more into adrenaline-fueled activities than sitting around and quietly waiting for a fish to bite.
A.I. can help you sift through the massive piles of information, but the greatest value and contribution is in your hands.
You decide what to do with that information.
4 Emails per Day Strategy
This might sound like it’s not a lot, but that’s the old “employee mindset” that is talking.
Again, you can no longer compete on quantity, only quality.
We already established you could send 1,000 emails per day and achieve nothing.
A Sovereign Worker should focus on asking better questions like “What should I put inside this email?”
Now we’re getting somewhere.
What should be written in the email is easy once you deeply understand the person you’re sending it to.
For example, let’s say that, through intensive research, you found that one of the things that your potential client wants is some rare Pokemon card.
And let’s say you have that card and want to sell it; your email could be as simple as sending 8 words:
- Subject: “I have a pikachu card”
- Body: “are you interested?”
It literally doesn’t have to be more complicated than that.
To put things into perspective, if you send this same message through automation to 100.000 people, most likely 99.999 people will send it to spam, and your email will be banned by Google and others.
So the BIG takeaway is this:
“It’s not important what you send, but whom you send it to.”
Also, let’s analyze this rollercoaster of events:
- You spent 2 hours to find the key info about your potential client
- Then you wrote only 8 words
- And in the end, you pocketed couple thousand dollars (because it was a rare card)
This would never happen in traditional employment. In fact, it would be quite the opposite:
- You’d research for 5 minutes
- Then write a very long email
- Then send it to as many people as possible
- No one would buy anything
- And you’d get your $20 per hour or something for effectively spamming people
So the first thing as a Sovereign Worker you really need to do is decontaminate yourself from the old ways of thinking and doing things.
That is the only way to survive and thrive in the Machine Age.
High-Value Offers
This might be obvious, but let’s put it on the table nonetheless.
No one is going to invest 2 hours into researching a person or an organization if the total amount they can earn is $10.
So, this only functions for specific, custom-made offers and solutions that you can charge thousands of dollars for.
This is ok because that is exactly what you offer.
Also, it’s important to consider the lifetime value of your clients.
Maybe they’re paying you only $500 for something small you need to do for them every month. But they need it every month. In that case, this client is worth $6,000 per year.
Now that’s definitely worth 2 hours of your time.
Where to Find Email Addresses?
As it turns out, email addresses are not very easy to find.
Most companies have that “info@…” email address, but guess who is sending all the millions of spam messages there?
All the A.I. tools and automation software programs. So you probably won’t even be noticed there.
Also, you don’t know who is reading that email. And this means you didn’t write it to a specific person.
That is contrary to everything we have discussed so far.
Plus, you’ll be losing the only weapon you have against the A.I. — message hyperindividualization.
You could try to guess a person’s email, but every time you guess wrong, Google and other email providers take notice.
This means you’re one step closer to having your entire email address flagged. And then all your email will go straight to spam.
So, the only way to reliably get valid email addresses is to buy them.
Why Paying for Verified Emails Is a Strategic Advantage
When you’re a spammer, and you’re sending 100,000+ emails per day, there is no way you will pay $1 per address.
Their spammy model only works when emails are free:
- Send 100,000 messages
- 5 of them respond
- Sell them some crap for $20
- And you’re making $100 per day (with at least $50 going toward server costs)
So they’re never going to spend $100,000 to make $100 back.
But this is great news for you:
- You will spend next to nothing ($4/day)
- To get clients potentially worth thousands of dollars
- And you can filter them by their position in the company
All this means you can get to the exact decision-makers you need. And you’ll get their name so you can further research them and do all the specialized custom things we talked about.
Plus, due to cost, these paid emails rarely get spam messages, so they don’t have a habit of ignoring emails because most of them are very relevant.
You just have to make sure your message is relevant as well.
(And it will be because you did your 2-hour research.)
